5 Ways to Fix HP Printer Offline Error on Windows 10

 Some Windows 10 PC users have reported that the HP printer shows offline Error. It may happen when:

  • The connection between printer and PC  is slow.
  • The printer is bugged by an internal mistake.
  • The printer is overloaded and has several incomplete tasks.

Several methods to fix it are

Method 1. Check Printer and Network Connection

First, turn off the printer for 25 to 30 seconds and then turn it on again in order to check whether the printer and network are connected. Also, make sure that the cable is plugged firmly.

Method 2. Use Printer Offline Setting

  • First, close the “Use Printer Offline” setting. If this setting is enabled, your printer will not be able to print. Follow the given steps to turn off this selection:
  • Hit the “Windows + I” keys to open the Settings window, then click the Devices Option.
  • Then select the Printers & scanners tab and then choose the printer device. Click on this printer device and select Open queue.
  • Click Printer and uncheck Use Printer Offline.

Method 3. Set It as the Default Printer                         

  • Open Printers & scanners setting, then click the printer device and choose Open queue.
  • Select the Printer option, then click on Set As Default Printer.

Method 4. Fix it via Services

This method is only applicable to printers that use a WSD port.

  • Open Printers & scanners, then select the printer device and choose Open queue.
  • Select Printer to expand it. Then, click Properties.
  • In the Properties window, go to the Ports tab.
  • If your printer uses a WSD port, then follow the given steps to change Service settings:
  • Search “Services” in the Start menu
  • Locate the Function Discovery Provider Host and Function Discovery Resource Publication.
  • Then, click the Status and Startup Type columns. If the status isn’t Running, you can choose to Start by right-clicking it. If the Startup Type is not Automatic, right-click it and click Properties to set it as Automatic.

If the problem is not solved, follow the steps given below to add a new port:

  • First, print a Network Configuration Report from the Printer Settings
  • Go to the printer’s Ports tab, and click Add Port. Choose Standard TCP/IP Port and click New Port.
  • Then, use the earlier printed information given in the Network Configuration Report in order to add a new port

Method 5. Create a Manual IP Connection

  • Print a Network Configuration Page from the network settings and check if your network status is connected or not.
  • If not connected, connect the printer to your network first. find the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway for your network connection type. Then, find the URL(s) for the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
  • Open the EWS URL, then click the Network tab, open the Wired/Wireless menu, and select IPv4 Configuration.  Choose Manual IP, select Suggest a Manual IP Address, and then configure the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway number according to the Network Configuration Page.
  • Click Apply and wait for some time.

If the problem isn’t solved, use the IP Address to create a new TCP/IP Port. Then test the printer again to see whether the problem is solved.
