Multi-Device Support Feature Is Coming on WhatsApp

Using the multi-device support, you will be able to access your WhatsApp account on four devices at a time.

Two More Unique Features

Apart from multi-device support, ‘View Once’ and ‘Disappearing Mode’ were also announced in the interview. Zuckerberg said the content shared on WhatsApp with the help of the view once feature will be deleted automatically after it is viewed. The company is also adding new things to its disappearing message feature. Today, the disappearing message feature provides a limited time for deleting messages. After the update, a user will be able to keep this feature on for the entire chat thread.

End-to-end Encryption Will Not Be Affected

Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that the multi-device feature will not make any difference to end-to-end encryption and that users’ chats will remain private. Zuckerberg added, “Bringing all users’ messages to one place for the four devices and syncing content correctly, and that too when the user’s phone’s battery is about to be dead, was a big technical challenge. But we solved this problem, and we are ready to roll out this feature soon.’

The New Password-Protected Encrypted Chat Backup Feature

Meanwhile, WhatsApp head Cathcart did not say when the view once and disappearing mode features will launch. However, he did say that the beta trial of multi-device support would start in the next one or two months. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is also working on a new password-protected encrypted chat backups feature nowadays. With the launch of this feature, users will be able to easily transfer their chat between Android and iOS devices.
